"PHANTOM" WINS CONDAS
The City of Newcastle Drama Awards (the CONDAs) were presented last night (6/12/13) at a wonderful ceremony at the Civic Theatre. Our production of "The Phantom of the Opera" won a record 7 CONDAs. This is a wonderful recognition of all the work that went into this production and the success that it was. Huge congratulations to the production team, the cast, the crew, the orchestra and the committee for this fabulous achievement. It was great to see people being recognised for their work, not only the winners but also all the others associated with the show who received nominations.

The nominations for this year's CONDA Awards were announced at the Civic Theatre on 18/11/13. Our production of "The Phantom of the Opera" received a record 14 nominations in 10 different categories. A huge congratulations to everyone involved with the production for this recognition of all your wonderful work. The CONDA winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony at the Civic Theatre on Friday, 6 December at 7.30pm.

"PHANTOM" SEASON CLOSES
The season of "The Phantom of the Opera" came to a close with a spectacular performance on Saturday night, 7September. The audience gave it a standing ovation and their feedback has been unbelievable. A huge thank you to everybody who helped to make this production so special and memorable. It was a marvellous achievement for Metropolitan Players and wonderful testament of the talent that is available right here in Newcastle.
REVIEW FOR "PHANTOM"
Today's Newcastle Herald published a review by theatre critic Ken Longworth of the opening night performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". In his review Ken said that "it is a must-see show for anyone interested in Newcastle theatre talent". "Director Julie Black and the large production team ensure that the story is riveting from beginning to end." Congratulations to everyone associated with this most amazing production. "The Phantom of the Opera" opened at the Civic Theatre on Wednesday, 28 August with a big charity night in aid of Ronald McDonald House, the Samaritans and Newcastle Enterprise Rotary. The audience response has been amazing and the performances are receiving standing ovations. This is a production that Newcastle should be very proud of as it shows the talent and skills that are available locally.
MEDIA LAUNCH FOR "PHANTOM"
The official media launch for "The Phantom of the Opera" was held at the Civic Theatre on Tuesday, 6 August 2013. The launch was held on stage and the assembled media from television, radio and the press and invited guests were treated to 4 musical items from the show. Everybody also had a sneak preview of the magnificent costumes and wigs that have been made especially for this production.
"PHANTOM" ARRIVES AT THE CIVIC
"The Phantom of the Opera" has officially arrived at the Civic Theatre Newcastle. The advertising banner was installed outside the theatre ready for the season of the show from 28 August to 7 September. All bookings are with Ticketek by calling 49291977.
PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN FOR "PHANTOM" BEGINS
The publicity campaign for "The Phantom of the Opera" is now in full swing. The billboard has now gone up at Broadmeadow, there are advertisements in the Herald and online advertising will begin soon and advertising has also commenced on NBN television.PHANTOM REHEARSALS BEGIN

The rehearsals for Metropolitan Players production of "The Phantom of the Opera" started on Saturday, 4 May with a BBQ for all the cast and crew, a reading of the show and a look at the set model and costumes and materials. A number of the costumes have already been made and work has started on construction of the set. There was a feeling of excitement amongst everyone present to be a part of this amazing production.

CIVIC THEATRE 2013 SEASON
The Civic Theatre Newcastle launched its 2013 season on 27/2/13. The launch was held on the stage of the theatre and regular subscribers were able to have tours of the backstage areas of the theatre. Metropolitan Players production of "The Phantom of the Opera" is part of the 2013 season. Subscribers who book for at least 4 shows from the main season can then access tickets to "Phantom" at a special subscriber rate. Bookings can be made on-line at the Civic's website. "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA" Auditions
Metropolitan Players are thrilled to announce that our production for 2013 will be the NSW non-professional premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom Of The Opera". The show will be at the Civic Theatre from 28 August - 7 September.
Auditions for all roles will be held at Broadmeadow Uniting Church Hall on the following dates:
* Wednesday 19th September, 6.30pm-10pm
* Friday 21st September, 6.30pm-10pm
* Tuesday 25th September, 6.30pm-10pm
* Wednesday 26th September, 6.30pm-10pm
Any call backs will be held on Friday 28th September and Saturday 29th September.
The minimum age for the cast is 17 years old.
